My Favorite Sloppy Joes

This is a recipe I fall back on time after time, and it has never disappointed me.  The meat comes out tangy, moist, and delicious, and it is so easy to make.  Your crockpot does most of the work while you are off doing other things!  Served with a salad or a side of coleslaw, it’s a great summer meal that you can keep in your back pocket, and pull out when you have a day off and want to spend the afternoon away from the kitchen.

Rustic Summer Tarts

Showcase summer fruit with these delicious free-form tarts.  Mouth-watering cherries, blueberries, black raspberries, and nectarine slices are lightly sweetened with honey and baked on a wholesome pastry.  These rustic summer tarts are sweet enough to eat for dessert, yet healthy enough to enjoy for breakfast.  You can mix and match the fruit in the tarts, depending on what is most available and fresh, because the fresher the fruit, the better these taste.

Cherry Banana Smoothie

In this cherry banana smoothie, the unmistakably bold and bright flavor of tart cherries is balanced by banana, sweet yogurt, and almond milk.  Tart cherries are one of my favorite fruits, and they are ripening out on the tree in our yard right now!  We planted our cherry trees a few years ago (one sweet, one tart), and each year they produce more cherries.  The past couple of years have been exciting, because our trees have actually yielded enough cherries for us to make things with them!
